General figure and face-specific closure ability: predictors of trait-autism?

چکیده

Abstract Little research has examined the association between general figure closure speed, a stratum I ability within Cattell-Horn-Carroll (CHC) model of intelligence, and face-specific ability; an important consideration, as some suggests face processing is independent other abilities. Additionally, (general face) may correlate negatively with trait-autism, due to theorised autism-related difficulties in global processing. Therefore, addition developing psychometrically robust short-form Mooney detection task, we administered Gestalt Figure Completion Test Autism Spectrum Quotient sample 263 community adults. We found convergent validity ( r = .44, 95%CI:[.30, .58]). Furthermore, based on latent variable model, was directly, indirectly, associated trait-autism (i.e., nonverbal communication). conclude that evidences can be measured reliably less than four minutes. Finally, general, rather face-specific, process tap more directly into autism-like communication ability, supporting notion abilities non-face objects better reflect requirements ‘fill gaps’ social contexts.

Estimation of Genetic Parameters, General and Specific Combining Ability in Iranian Endemic Coriander Populations

In any breeding program, knowledge of the nature of gene action involved in the inheritance of traits is a basic requirement. In this research, diallel crosses progenies of six coriander landrace were evaluated in F1 and F2 generations. The genotypes were evaluated in different irrigation conditions in three separate experiments, in which each experiment was conducted in a randomized complete b...

Learning strategies and general cognitive ability as predictors of gender- specific academic achievement

Recent research has revealed that learning behavior is associated with academic achievement at the college level, but the impact of specific learning strategies on academic success as well as gender differences therein are still not clear. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate gender differences in the incremental contribution of learning strategies over general cognitive ability ...

Face recognition: a model specific ability

In our everyday lives, we view it as a matter of course that different people are good at different things. It can be surprising, in this context, to learn that most of what is known about cognitive ability variation across individuals concerns the broadest of all cognitive abilities; an ability referred to as general intelligence, general mental ability, or just g. In contrast, our knowledge o...
